Our pets need the same care for their teeth that we do for our own teeth on a regular basis. There are steps that can be taken to minimize the build-up of plaque and reduce the risk of gum disease in our pets. The first step is a visit to our clinic to have your pet's teeth and gums examined by one of our veterinarians. If there is evidence of plaque or gum inflammation, the veterinarian may recommend treatment or a dental cleaning. The next step is to begin routine oral care for your pet at home. We have different products for you to choose from and they will be discussed below. The final step in oral health care is to schedule regular dental exams to monitor the health of your pet's teeth and gums. Our groomer, Keith Cooper, also offers teeth brushing for your pet during is grooming.

Daily brushing and rinsing: We recommend C.E.T Brand toothpaste that can be easily digested by your pet. C.E.T makes toothbrushes designed for your pet and fingerbrushes designed for easy use. We also recommend Hexarinse, which is an easy-to-use oral rinse that acts to reduce tartar build up.

OraVet is a new product we have that we highly recommned. OraVet is a sealant that we apply to your pet's teeth after a thorough cleaning and then you just apply the OraVet gel once a week there after to prevent tartar and plaque build up on your pet's teeth.
OraVet works in an effective new way. It significantly reduces plaque and tartar formation by preventing bacteria from attaching to your pet's teeth.
OraVet Barrier Sealant creates an invisible barrier that prevents  plaque-forming bacteria from attaching to the teeth.
Beginning two weeks after your pet's dental cleaning, apply OraVet Plaque Prevention Gel once a week at home to maintain the barrier our veterinarian established. It takes less than 60 seconds a week to do! For more information on this new product your can visit www.oravet.com

Dental Diets and Treats: Science Diet has developed special diets that help reduce the accumulation of plaque and tartar from your pet's teeth. Hill's Prescription Diet T/D comes in Canine and Feline formulas. Theses foods can be fed as your pet's only diet or used as daily treats. C.E.T has formulated special chews that aid in plaque and tartar reduction as well. These chews come in petite, medium, large and extra large sizes for your pet's specific needs. They also have developed chews for cats that come in different flavors.

All of the products that we carry and recommend can be explained and demonstrated by our staff. If you have any questions about your pet's dental health or how you can begin an oral care program at home, please ask one of our staff members today!
